Welcome to Frank's Fly Arts, Columbia's locally owned and operated fly fishing guide service.
For many years Columbia, SC has hidden a well kept secret in the fly fishing world - one of the farthest south tailwater trout fishing opportunities in the country on the Lower Saluda River.
Our three rivers are also part of the Santee-Cooper River system, home to the original strain of landlocked striped bass that gave rise to lake and river striped bass fishing across the United States and around the world.
A more recent arrival to the party are smallmouth bass. Originally stocked in the 1980s in the upper Broad River well above Columbia, some of these fish made it through upstream dams and were then supplemented in recent years with additional stocking by the SC DNR to produce the now self sustaining population of hard-fighting bronzebacks present in our rivers today.
Come fish with me, Michael Frank, on a full service float or wade trip here in one of the most unique southern fisheries in the country. You'll catch a variety of fish, some native and some introduced from elsewhere, while enjoying a remarkably scenic, wild, and historic river within the boundaries of the South Carolina state capital.
Float Trips:
(Fly or Spin Fishing)
Our tunnel-hull drift boats get you into places few others have access to. They float high on the water giving you a commanding view of everything in and on the river and the floor suspends 14'' above the water's surface to help keep you dry. Safe and comfortable, these boats allow you to cast easily from a sitting or standing postion.
Half day (4 hrs) $350
Full day (8 hrs) $400
Wade Trips:
(Fly or Spin Fishing)
Wade trips can be tailored to target the species of your preference or split between a few locations to help you learn the best spots to walk in and fish for all of the types of fish found in our rivers.
(4 hrs) $300 for 1 or 2 fishermen, $50 each additional guest
Our trips are appropriate for beginners and experienced fly fishermen. Every trip booked includes a two-hour fly casting lesson for all guests. This makes a trip with Frank's Fly Arts the perfect introduction to fly fishing, and gives those who might need to brush up on their skills a chance to practice before they're on the water in front of the fish.
Our trips include the use of all tackle and flies, all equipment such as PFDs, waders, and wading boots to keep you safe, warm, and dry if you choose to get in and fish.
If you have young children, ask about special family rates. One adult and two children or two adults and one small child for the cost of our usual two person float trip rate. (Age and weight limits apply.)
Thank you for visiting Frank’s Fly Arts. Please visit our other pages to learn more about me and other instruction and services I offer. I look forward to hearing from you to book your next fly fishing adventure.
